Five Mile, featured on Primos’ “Truth About Hunting” TV series, in Southwest Hinds County has so much to offer. In our opinion this is one of our favorite deer hunting properties. But the turkey hunting is not half bad either. This place is literally loaded with deer, primarily due to an abundance of early successional cover in several large fields, areas planted in native hardwoods, mixed in with numerous brushy thickets, small clearcuts and areas of mature hardwood and native pine. It doesn’t hurt that the southernmost boundary is 5-Mile Creek, for which this property is named. An excellent trail system includes plenty of roads wide enough to accommodate large equipment. These roads lead to big food plots that fill up with deer in the late afternoons. The campgrounds include a very clean, fully furnished, five-bedroom, three-bathroom, manufactured home, a large, insulated metal building with concrete floors, large roll-up doors, and enclosed skinning shed.
